Hello, and welcome to one of my websites (I setup PenPassion on April 15th, 2004, but I’ve changed things over the years and most recently changed the system to use WordPress). My name is Mark Bacas and I have a problem with a pen addiction. I’ve been collecting pens for quite a while now (over 15 years). Luckily (depending on how you look at it) I’ve bought and sold pens over the years so I haven’t just been accumulating.
I happen to like all sorts of pens so I’m not just a fountain pen junkie. 🙂 For a while I concentrated on Japanese pens from the 70s and 80s. Especially short/long fountain pens made by Pilot, Sailor, and Platinum. These are pens that are short when capped and long when posted. The nicer ones are made out of steel.
You can also find me on: Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.
You may have noticed something different if you’ve been to the site in the past. Please see this post for more information on the change.
I’ve decided to setup PenPassion so I can blog and write about some of my passions. Mainly pens, ink, and paper. I’ve like pens as long as I can remember. Even though I don’t have it any longer I still remember acquiring a Parker 21 that my dad brought home from somewhere. I didn’t realize there was a world of pens out there until I moved to Atlanta and saw that they had a pen show here. Huh, a pen show? A show all about pens? Really?!?! I probably should have never of gone to that show many years ago. 🙂 One of the best things about pens is the pen community. All of the wonderful people you meet online and in person. Local pen clubs is a great way to meet other like minded people so you don’t feel ostracized. I now belong to 2 of them. The Southeastern Pen Collectors’ Club and the North Atlanta Pen Posse.
Anyway, enjoy the site. It will probably take a little while for me to get things rolling. Let me know if there is anything in particular you like to see, etc.
